Question: I usually don't have too much acne....mostly a few little white heads....I have several dark spot due to sun damage, I guess.....I have not really picked at anything on my face sine last XXXXXXX 2013 because my hand was to weak to squeeze a pimple.... Here goes my question....I was looking into my magnifying mirror and saw just a little bump on my check bone...it was not even that visible but I could feel just a little hard skin tone colored bump. I have occasionally gotten these there for 35 years around the same area and so I popped it and forgot it....well it got red puffy a little...so I sqeezed it again thinking that would be the end of that....but it got worse and worse...many little hard thing that are filled with very skinny little white lines...I have used a sterilized need to burs these little ball...(I know I should not do this) but found it impossible to go in the bathroom and see more of the same....the hole got dime sized and still more there I picked so much last Saturday that my eye swoll up top and bottom lid and turned black.....I have never had or seen anything like this before...my husband wanted to take me to ER last Sunday...but I was so embarrassed that I had done this to my self I would not go....I didn't touch it till yesterday and was healing up good there was just a small scab with tiny redness....but yesterday I started it all over again...same stuff it is a dime sized hole now and my check down to my shin is black and blue......then I started seeing a few places like around my nose at my eyebrow even, that these skinny little white lines are also coming out of. I need to go to the doctor I guess but I am again to embarrassed to go.....I don't understand how come these skinny little white thing are coming out....this isn't what would usually come out of a bump I would squeeze.....is there any reason that would explain why this is happening? Is there any thing specific that would cause skinny white pus as opposed to just regular pus...is there anything I can do for this besides leave it alone? it hurts too...I put a potatoe on it...it felt better for a moment...but the hole is throbbing.

Brief Answer: Possibility of bacterial infection of an acne cyst Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic. I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your concern and i have understood it. I would keep a possibility of a sebaceous cyst OR cystic acne to begin with, which has now become secondarily infected, swollen and painful, as a result of sqeezing and piercing. Can you upload a picture? so that i may be able to help you better If I was the treating doctor I would have advised an empirical oral antibiotic for a week OR 10 days (My choice of oral antibiotic would have been Amoxycillin 500mg in combination with clavulanic acid 125 mg, thrice daily, for a week OR Cephalexin 500ng thrice daily OR Cefadroxil 500mg twice daily, for a week). That would take care of the infection. An OTC pain killer e.g ibuprofen once or twice daily would help you deal with the pain. However, if it keeps growing OR does'nt respond adequately to antibiotics, than it may have to be incised to drain away the pus and infection. regards
