Suggest Treatment For Indigestion, Severe Stomach Ache While Treating Acid Reflux

default
Posted on Thu, 18 Dec 2014
Question: Hi. I'm 44 and have had acid reflux for 14 years, since giving birth to my daughter. I've been taking Zegerid after my insurance company stopped paying for Nexium. For the past week, my indigestion has gotten much worse and I have terrible pain in my stomach if I put any pressure on it. Could it be something else, or maybe I should try a new medication? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
gastritis or peptic ulcer

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for posting in Healthcare magic,

The symptoms that your are having match with gastritis or a severe one called peptic ulcer disease.

In both the condition pain nausea vomiting and reflux are common.

Zegerid containing omeprazole is a good drug but in severe cases may require higher dose with prolonged medication.

I would suggest to take zegerid twice daily after discussing with your treating doctor and get an Upper GI endoscopy done to diagnose the condition properly. If required biopsy has to be taken to diagnose H pylori infection and treatment with h pylori kit.

Thank you.
