Brief Answer:
Muscle pull or tear could create an indentation over back.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to health care magic,

A simple muscle pull or tear could create an indentation over back which is the first possibility comes in my mind as per your symptoms and description.

Also, the fact that the indentation is painful is more reassuring that what you are experiencing is a musculoskeletal phenomenon related to a strain, pull or sprain.

In addition, I will also want to rule out any muscle spasm due to disc related issue like disc injury by complete clinical examination and some relevant tests.

For which I would like to ask,

If you have undergone any surgery over back recently? Or
Do you have any injury over back?

Also, if you could send me the picture of this indented area which would helpful for me to guide you better.

For now, I would recommend ice therapy to the affected area 3 to 4 times a day with over the counter pain killer gel application for symptomatic relief.

Kindly get back to me with the information which i need.

Regards,

Thank you. No previous problems or surgeries on back. Most likely a pulled muscle.
Thank You

Brief Answer:
welcome.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow-up.

As we discussed earlier, pulled muscle or tear is the likely possibility of this indentation over back.

Take symptommatic treatment as I said.
