Suggest Treatment For Improper Retraction Of Penis Foreskin?

Posted on Mon, 5 May 2014
Question: Hello Dr, I am 29 years old married guy.I have problem related to foreskin retraction during intercourse.Once before marriage i suffered from Paraphimosis and consulted general surgeon who set it right the swollen penis and suggested me to retract foreskin properly post erection. But did not advise circumcision since my foreskin was not tight. Post marriage during intercourse i feel little pain, mild burning sensation and also the foreskin doesnt retract fully so that it comes behind penis head and glans are fully exposed.I am afraid to pull the foreskin forcibly that it may get stuck and cause Paraphimosis or frenulum the connecting skin between penis and foreskin may break and cause injury. Because of this i am not able to have sex without condom. Even while wearing condom i won't retract foreskin at all but helps me perform the act without any problem. So i want to have sex without condom and achieve proper retraction of foreskin and enjoy sex.I don't feel there is lubrication problem either with me or my wife.

Brief Answer: circumcision would be a permanent solution for you Detailed Answer: Hello, Thank You for consulting HealthcareMagic! I have carefully gone through your problem. Of course, circumcision would be a permanent solution for your problem, but it is up to you to go for it or not. It takes about 6 weeks to get completely healed from circumcision surgery to participate in sex. You can also discuss with your consulting Urologist about medical ways of fixing your problem, by the usage of some low potent steroid creams along with some retraction advice. But, these too have their own risks and are advised only after careful physical examination and strict supervision from your Urologist. They also have certain side effects which vary from individual to individual. Kindly, discuss about these options with your consulting Urologist who decides after physical examination. Stay healthy and thank you for consulting! You can contact me again anytime, if you need clarifications or further assistance in future. Kindly rate the answer if you are satisfied.

But i am very scared to go for circumcision after knowing post treatment effects like loss in erection, sensitivity, damage etc. When we should apply steroid creams? just before the act? in that case is it safe to have intercourse with steroid being applied, particularly while i am planning for baby? there wont be any side effects of ointments on my partner? circumcision will have very serious negative effects after few years? or after few months? if i undergo circumcision will i need to take bed rest for few days? if so how many days? After applying steroids shall i need to have regular sex to know about improvements?

I have not suggested you to use steroid creams. Just mentioned that there would be such an option for which clinical studies have been done. You should discuss with your treating physician.
