Suggest Treatment For Hypothysoidism, PCOS And Frequent Urination

Question: Hello

I was diagnosed with PCOD a few years ago along with hypothyroidism. My doctor put me on Eltroxin 50mcg and a insulin resistance pill called Rejumet. However, recently I have been suffering with frequent urination and thirst during the day (wanting to pee every couple of hours) and this has been so only over the past 4 or 5 days. Could it be Diabetes insipidus? How long should I wait before I start to panic?-Also, if it helps, it has been quiet hot over the past few days which could also be a reason for increased water intake but I could do well with your advice.

Brief Answer:
Urinary tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I understand your concerns about increased frequency of urine.

This sounds more like urinary tract infectionand not diabetes insipidus or diabetes mellitus.

I suggest you give urine for routine examination as well as culture and sensitivity test.

This will identify organism affecting and the possible antibiotics effective for it.

Thank you for the response. However, I would appreciate more clarity on the diagnoses. Why would it not be insipidus or mellitus? I will get a urine test done but meanwhile I would appreciate any explanation on this regard. My family has an extensive and thorough history of diabetes.

Brief Answer:
Diabetes cannot occur suddenly

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Your symptoms are from short time. You said specially in last 5 fays4. This is commonly seen typically in UTI.

Diabetes occurs slowly with gradual increase of symptoms over months.

If you arw so highly suspicious of diabetes please get fasting blood sugar test along with urine for examination in morning. This will put your mind at ease.
