Suggest Treatment For Hypertension While On Lisinopril And Amlodipine

Question: Have recent increase in BP over the past month. Have been on meds many years; I am 62 yrs old. Due to the recent unexplained increase (over this past month) my MD prescribed a new additional med for me: Amlodipine Besylate 5 mg. Started taking it 24 hours ago as this was added to my regular BP med list for the past 2 years of: Metoprolol Succinate ER 100mg/day and Lisinopril 40 mg per day. My usual BP range has been 140/85 to 135/80, and has been pretty consistent for most of 2016. Now having been on my new med (Amlodipine) for ONLY 24 hours and having my BP still high all day today (see below); and now compounded with an increase this evening to: 180/110; Pulse 100 - I am worried it may go even higher in the night while asleep if that is possible. Monitoring my BP today on new med did not make any difference with my new high BP readings - running 160 to 170 Systolic and 100 to 110 diastolic all day (and I realize it is only been one day on the new med). So here is my question: Since my most recent BP numbers this evening are highest ever at 180/110 and this was 2 hours after taking my evening BP meds (Lisinopril 20 mg at 9 PM) - I felt like I wanted to consider doubling up on a dose of one or more of my other BP meds since I won't be taking any more until tomorrow at 10 AM.
Any advise on doing this; or should I just chill and let well enough alone? If you advise to take an additional dose, which one should I take and how much more? I understand Lisinopril and Amlodipine are faster acting than Metoprolol, which is also an Ext'd Release. I realize this is a difficult arm chair decision! But appreciate any advice.

Brief Answer:
Take 5 mg Amlodipine

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

All your medications act slowly.
You can take additional 5 mg Amlodipin. The effect will start in 2 hours. If you notice further rise of blood pressure it will be better to refer to ER. They will give you medications that acts quickly or i.v injections.

Take care
