Question: I have been told that I have arthritis in my hip on both sides but have discovered a very painful red "spot" on my left hip. Is this anything significant. I have taken a picture

Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
Noted the history, seen the picture and understood your concerns.
The red spot on the buttock loos to be a skin lesion like a boil or so.
Most probably not related to the arthritis of hip joints.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Apply liquid povidone iodine locally on the affected area to keep the area sterile.
Take an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory medication for a few days..
This would help to resolve the condition.
Since when is this present?
Please post fresh, more clear and focused pictures if possible and post these again as they may give on-the-spot diagnosis.
