Suggest Treatment For High Fever In Children

Question: my son is 15 he had a high fever 102 ish for about 3 days then still down for another 7. had blood work done came up with nothing. finally broke fever then went back to activities. he is still plugged up in his head and is now saying he cant remember short term things. also says he feels like hes in a dream, like nothing is real. he forgets school instructions minutes after there given. its to the point of him crying and being very scared of how hes feeling. he cant focus on an activity or anything really. any help you can give would be appreciated.

Viral infections are not likely to get reflected in blood tests. It is quite common to get the mentioned symptoms during the recovery period after fever. I would suggest to give him a healthy diet and adequate rest so that he can recover well. Most often such symptoms get relieved in a month or so. There is very little chance of these being permanent, which may occur only in case of very high fever persisting long enough to cause damage to the brain. I would suggest you not to worry about it. I hope that things would be fine after he recovers completely. In the meantime, giving tylenol as and when required for headache or bodily discomfort, should help.
