Brief Answer:
Possibly due to a viral infection. No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Antibiotics would not help unless blood counts are raised (indicating bacterial infection) and irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days.

Often such viral infections manifest with fever. If your child is otherwise active and playful, I would not be concerned. If not, it would be a good idea to visit a doctor and to get the child evaluated.

If she has fever with temperature more than 100°F, you need to give paracetamol or acetaminophen (P-250, Crocin or Tylenol) to it bring down.

It is a very bad practice to give antibiotics without a confirmation of raised leucocyte count. However since you have started the antibiotics, please complete the course. Please be patient, it should spontaneously resolve in a few days.

Hopefully that would help. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.

Brief Answer:
Should respond to antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Pardon me for getting it wrong. If the blood counts are raised it indicates a bacterial infection and should respond to treatment with suitable antibiotics. Please be patient. Unless she becomes lethargic you need not worry.
