Brief Answer:
suggest angiotensin receptor blockers

Detailed Answer:
Hi
First and foremost I will tell you why the change has been suggested.
Its because the bp is somewhat high, and because the medicines you were on are not that much recommended for high blood pressure as per the newer guidelines.

In the latter part of the answer i am assuming that
1. you do not have any other disease, except hypertension
2. you had taken your medications regularly prior to the record of blood pressure.
If either of the situations is not fulfilled, we may have to reconsider

First, I agree with your doctor to change calaptin. However I do not agree with his replacement drug- Ivabrad- which is supposed to reduce the blood pressure by slowing the heart rate, and therefore used for angina.

I would suggest another group of medicine called ARBs like telmisartan or olmesartan. This is again 40 mg (olmesartan), and you can start with this medicine. It is a more accepted group as per the new guidelines. Just once a day may do to start with. We can recheck bp at a later time and adjust the dose thereafter.

Best of luck
Dr Mittal
