Posted on Fri, 18 Aug 2017
Question: I contracted herpes 2 orally about six months ago. My current treatment consists of taking Acyclovir 800 mg 5 times daily. I have no active sores at this time.

Question: Is it possible for me to transmit this disease to a partner by having vaginal or anal intercourse without using a condom?

Brief Answer:
You will not transmit Herpes without active sores

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic.

It is highly unlikely to transmit the Herpes virus if you do not have active sores/lesions. Whenever you have active lesions (either around the mouth/genitalia), coming in direct/indirect contact with sores can transmit the virus.
So be careful not to share towels, utensils etc or to engage in kissing/sexual intercourse when you have active lesions.

Hope this answers your question
