Question: My wife had an
MRI back in November 2013. The purpose of the MRI was because she has acute paid in her lower lumbar region that in effect makes her whole back "hard as a rock" and is also very painful.
As an incidental finding the
radiologist found that the
liver appeared to be enlarged and measured 22 CM superior. Our GP doctor did not give any specifics other than to say "wow" and that the liver was enlarged. He did not look at the pictures of the MRI or give any instructions.
My wife is still in pain with her back, but as we go on, the liver statement becomes very scary. She is very detailed and reads a lot about all medical conditions and gets concerned about any medicine that she takes and the lack of instruction from her GP.
Can you provide some CLEAR insight about an enlarged liver and what actions she should take? We recently finally were able to get her health care effective April 1 and this is a top priority..
I am her husband, and have a Traumatic
Brain Injury, and my wife is my 24/7 caregiver. We have been married 25 years, and she has been my caregiver since the car accident that caused the
TBI in December 2008. It is very stressful and it would be untruthful to say that she does not drink alcohol. She does not drink to excess, as her primary role is to take care of me, and she always must maintain her faculties.
As part of my doctor base, I was able to take the MRI pictures to my Neurosurgeon, who viewed them as a courtesy and saw nothing that indicated that she needed any surgery for her spine. She had some disk compression, and some
arthritis, but he was not qualified to speak about any organs.
I will send the report, and attempt to send the pictures if they are not too big.
Thank you for your help.
