Question: I'm 59 years old...had a fecal blood test several months ago. Results sent to my Dr.
in late August. Did not hear about results until last week when I went in for flu vac. Nurse told me we needed to redo the test because it came back positive. In early August I had a flair up with hemmroidds. They didn't 't seem all that concerned. Have had a colonoscopy when I was 52 & 55. Last colonoscopy I had one polop. Is this a typical response given the circumstances?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi

The fecal blood test came back as positive as you had a flair up of hemorrhoids.

Since your colonoscopy was normal and you only had one polyp you do not need to worry.

I would advise you to take Tranexamic acid tablets 500 mg twice daily after food for 3 days with your doctors advise.

After 1 week you must repeat a fecal occult blood test. If that comes out to be positive then i will advise you to do a fresh colonoscopy test and a CT scan of whole abdomen.

If the fecal test comes out to be negative then you do not need to worry.
