Suggest Treatment For Hematuria While Suffering From Kidney Stones

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Feb 2017
Question: I have been going through 3 Kidney stone non-evasive and one laser evasive stone removal for a Left Kidney. During which time I had two different stint implanted (one replacing the other). Leading up to my last operation for the remnants of the stones, for 10 days I have been bleeding, pink to red urine. I asked the doctor at first sign of this is this an infection and is the stint causing same (10 days prior). He said "likely." Took some antibiotics and refilled the prescription and nothing changed over the 10 day period. Still had red urine coming out just before this last non-evasive surgery (today). I am now in the waiting process to see if the red urine will stop, having asked TODAYS operating crew to remove the stint. Did not get an answer, Don't believe I will know until I get an x-ray, (haven't received the medical report results of the last two surgeries) if it is still there( will do in a few days). The surgical team said nothing about removing the stint as I exited the Medical center (even tough I asked multiple times prior to the operation to have it removed). I was a bit drowsy and did not demand an answer as I was being walked out to my ride for home.

Is there a problem here, besides my being ignored?

Brief Answer:
Bleeding is due to infection and foreign body reaction to stent

Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the information that you have narrated you sem to have Kidney stones which were treated by ESWL and URS and stents were placed in your ureter to ease passage of fragments of stone .

However you have been getting hematuria .The hematuria due to stent is usually due to infection and foreign body reaction to stent and is a known complication of stent .

Consult your Urologist and insist for removal of stent The hematuria will subside after removal of stent .

In the mean while continue taking antibiotic .
