default
Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: Fell hard yesterday on outdoor tile - hit head and right buttock. Don't seem to have any head events (nauseous, dizzy, eye issues, headache, etc). HUGE hematoma in right buttock - bruising spread across back and tailbone. Numerous Epsom salt/sea salt/essential oil baths, ICE packs. etc. Leaving town in several days for 1000 mile trip and on feet for three weeks of sales at antiques show. What should I do to stay safe. have not seen doctor. have taken aspirin

Brief Answer:
Buttock hematoma

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your question. I'm sorry to hear about your fall and your buttock haematoma.

I do think you should be checked by your Dr. You are on aspirin and this may make you more likely to bleed following a fall. Hopefully the bleeding has now stopped and the haematoma is not enlarging. if it does continue to enlarge then more urgent assessment may be necessary.

it may be worth your Dr taking blood and checking to make sure that you are not anaemic and that your blood clotting is OK.

If that all checks out then usually a haematoma will be left to resolve spontaneously. a small number can become infected and need to be surgically drained.

I hope this answers yor question.

best wishes
