Question: my 12 year-old daughter has a headache, stomachache, is lethargic, had a fever the day before yesterday but it is gone now. She has an appetite but food hurts her stomach. Her headache doesn't go away with Tylenol or Ibuprophen. We give her TUMS for her stomach but it doesn't seem to help either. We've eliminated sugar and acidic foods - she eats mostly crackers, applesauce, bananas, Cheerios, and chicken noodle soup. She doesn't have other cold symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Gastroenteritis/appendicitis/incoming periods to consider as following...

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I am sorry for the situation your daughter is going through.

Now, you say that she is having headache, stomachache and fever the day before yesterday but now it is gone. Loss of appetite and lethargic.

There are a few things to consider here:
- she is having stomachache that doesn't allow her to feed well. This is causing hypoglycemia that is associated with headache.
- what is strange is the presence of fever the day before yesterday, that is not present anymore. Altogether, they might indicate a possible attack of appendicitis as she is not having any other cold symptom.
- Taking into account her age (12 years old) and gender (female), ovulation and incoming periods are to consider. Please elaborate if she has had her first periods or not so far?

Hyperacidity of the stomach (food hurting her stomach) is due to possible gastroenteritis? appendicitis? and incoming periods?
A further abdominal ultrasound is recommended and consultation with a surgeon is also advised to rule out an acute/hidden appendicitis.

Wish fast recovery.
