Question: I am trying to pass a stool and cannot due to it being packed at anal opening. I have no discomfort and have tried to inject warm water with a enema syringe, but the stool remains. The water did come out. What can I do to loosen the stool? Laxative? Fleet enema?

Brief Answer:
As detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/68 - unable to pass stool due to being packed at anal opening - no discomfort - tried instilling warm water with enema syringe - stool remains - water did come out - wants to know what can be done to loosen stool - laxative/fleet enema - not visited a Doctor ...
Read and understood the concerns.
I would advise you the following:
You can certainly try fleet enema, may help.
Insertion of Duclolax or Glycerin suppository anally, helps in many a cases..
Consult your Doctor - get a reference to a General Surgeon if required or as asked by your Doctor or when the measures fail.
Adding soap to the warm water that you instilled/inserted would have helped you the best as this is the oldest and the easiest way to get the proper results. Manual evacuation is sometimes warranted
The General Surgeon can also examine by doing per-rectal digital exam an ano-proctoscopy to get the correct diagnosis and get you treated as needed.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to give the feedback and ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
