default
Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: Hi, I only have 1kidney & suffer. Haematuria & pain syndrome in it. My filter membrane has some difficulty which leaves me exasted & blotted at times but my kidney function is relatively ok
I am on a lot of pain medication including oral morphine. Is there any other long term treatments or procedures that would benefit me instead of taking daily pain relief
Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Loin pain hematuria synfrome

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Loin pain hematuria syndrome is often treated with opioid based analgesics, you must be already on them right now.

Here are your other options

1. Fentanyl patch.

Fentanyl patches are exactly like band aids, except that they slowly release fentanyl, it is effective and each patch lasts for about 24-36 hours
2. Blocking the nerves that supply to the kidney.

It is known as Celiac plexus block, it is fairly successful and requires a skilled anesthetist to do it. However it might have to be repeated as the pain comes back
3. Surgical denervation

Here the urologist ligates the nerves that supply to the kidney, it is a permanent solution for the pain

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
