Question: I had gastritis a few weeks and he prescribed me an antibiotic that I was supposed to take for a few weeks but i stopped taking them because I started feeling better. I ate a lot of food last night due to thanksgiving and sure enough I feel like it's back. The one thing I don't understand is my heartbeat is crazy. Feels like my heart is going to come out of my chest. Is this a symptom of gastritis? Thank you

Can be gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Gastritis often presents are burning sensation of the chest and sometimes mimics a heart attack. This is what I recommend

1. Take tablet omeprazole once before food. It is a good over the counter anti gastric medication. It has to be taken not more than twice a day
2. Avoid spicy food
3. Avoid milk and milk products
4. Abstain from smoking and alcohol
5. If the symptoms do not improve please seek a doctor immediately
6. Red flags are severe chest pain, breathlessness and sweating

I hope I was of help, please get back to me if you have any further queries
