Question: Hi.
I was travelling for a week and ate all my meals in restaurants. And also had alcohal on 4-5 occassions (I otherwise take it very occassionaly). I was already on medication and did a 3 day course of tab azee during this period. I am also taking metaspary since a month (was taking this medicine before my travel begun). During the travel I developed bad stomach. It has been 3 weeks that I have this bad stomach now. There is no indigestion as I do not have burps and all after meals. I have been visiting loo 3-4 times daily since this started. It is all loose stool. I generally have urge to visit loo after smoke (5-6 sticks a day) I visited a doctor a week back and he advised me to to take O2. Even after 5 days, O2 did not help. I consulted another doctor a day back, who has now put me on Nutrolin B plus and Rantac. Please advise about the cause of problem I am facing and if the medication is correct.

Brief Answer:
Gasteroenteritis from food outside or alcohol possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.

I have gone through your query and the reports attached. They are related to your DNS problem.

Your problem is most likely due to gasteroenteritis after having food while travelling or alcohol. As you have taken antibiotics, infective causes, if there also might have resolved.

It is better to do a stool routine to rule out any further infection present. If there is infection then further antibiotics might be required. If no infection then only probiotics and taking enough fluids and electrolytes will make you better.

If gastric discomfort is there, I advise proton pump inhibitors like pantoperazole which will be better than rantac. If rantac is helping then you can continue that. You can also take better probiotics than Nutrolin B. Probiotics like saccharomyces boulardii will be helpful. You can finish your course of O2(ofloxacin and ornidazole) for 5 days.

You should also avoid milk. But you can take curd. If loose motions are more then you should also take ORS. It will take some days for bowel to get normalized.

If then also no improvement is there then a consultation with gasteroenterologist will be needed.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.

Thanks
