Question: I have an appointment on Wednesday to remove my gallbladder. I have had pain and nausea for quite some time and have many stones. I'm nervous and thinking of canceling because I am hearing pros and cons to getting it removed. I guess my question is from another drs view should I or shouldn't i?

Brief Answer:
Don't worry! Everything would be fine. You need not cancel it.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. I would insist you to relax. Everything has its pros and cons. Your worrying and getting anxious has too. But what matters more than standard pros and cons is how relevant is it in your situation. Since you have been having the pain and nausea for quite a while, you should possibly go for the removal of your gall bladder, and not cancel it. Had you been asymptomatic, I would have told you that you need not get it removed. But that is not the case here. I would like to reassure you that it is a very common procedure and not a cause for concern. I am sure that it would go well and that you would soon be fine again.

Do not hesitate to go for it.
