Brief Answer:
This is a normal phenomenon after using the spray.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

Do not worry! This is a normal phenomenon which happens after using the steroid nasal spray. The presence of preservatives in the spray gives a weird taste and the steroid per se causes decongestion of the mucosa. The decongested mucosa becomes dry, thus causing irritation of the nose and throat.

Similar thing happens at the nasal end of Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear). The spray tries to decongest the swollen mucosa around the tube causing tingling sensation in the ear.

With regular usage, you will get accustomed for the spray. You can always wash your mouth after using the spray, this reduces any bad taste in the mouth. If you are unable to get adjusted for fluticasone nasal spray you can request your doctor to change it over to momentasone nasal spray.

Hope I have answered your query; I'll be available for the follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Phlegm is the reaction of the tissues...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing back

The phlegm is a result of the reaction of the nasal and sinus mucosa to the allergens.

A mucolytic such as ambroxol or bromhexine available under various brand names can help in reducing the phlegm.

Also, you need to use saline nasal spray followed by steam inhalation. Normal saline helps in easy clearance of nasal and throat secretions. Drink plenty of warm water.

Finally, if possible, avoid smoking. Smoking worsens the inflammation and increases the consistency of the secretions.

Hope this clarifies your doubts.
