Brief Answer:
Folliculitis. Oral, topical antibiotic and painkiller

Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. Kakkar(dermatologist). I have noted your concern. I have viewed the images.

I can see a pustule over upper lip area on right side. It is bacterial folliculitis.
Yes, certainly folliculitis is painful particularly if it is deep and moreover as there is lot of movement in this area during talking, smiling etc.
I suggest you to take an oral antibiotic e.g Amoxicillin 500mg or Cephalexin 500mg, thrice daily for 5 days. Oral antibiotics are prescription drugs.
Topically you may use an antibacterial ointment e.g Neosporin, twice daily. It is available OTC
If it is paining too much you may also take an oral anti inflammatory / painkiller e.g ibuprofen, twice or thrice daily. Ibuprofen is available OTC.

Hello doctor,
The last two days I applied sandalwood and neem to the pimple as I did not get neosporin here and no medicines were available ... now the part is dried and no pain as such ..... but there are few things which is constantly bothering me
1) I get a hot flushed feeling every now and then. It feels like as though a hot blower is there right in front of my face it's either the right side or the left side of the face or it's just cheeks or eyes or lips but the flushed is there earlier it used to be only rare now it's very often ..
2) the lower vermillion border of the right side lips is very dry and tight and very flaky when I tried to just wipe off the flakiness the skin became red ... I don't know how to stop this flakiness ... I am not very strong or harsh when it comes to rubbing in fact I use a cotton bud and I slightly wipe it off ... I don't know what to use to moisturise them as the sebamed lip balm I use can't be used in lip line or the skin below it . Pleaseeeee help me ... now it feels like as though a tape is stuck on it and it's very dry and warm feeling sensation .
3) it's been almost three months since I started using sebamed lip balm how Long does it last ... The pack says three years but I don't know whether j can use this so long please advice

Brief Answer:
Remedy for flushing and dry lips

Detailed Answer:
hi.

Facial flushing is a symptom of sensitive skin and rosacea. For flushing I suggest you to use a soothing, calming lotion on face e.g calamine lotion or a physical sunscreen. Protect from sun.
For dry lips you may use cortisone cream intermittently. Its the only efective option that is available OTC. Try to find an antibacterial ointment, like soframycin or neomycin or fusidic acid. You may apply any of these.

Brief Answer:
Regarding your concern related to lips

Detailed Answer:
hi XXXXXXX

I have viewed the images. I think the redness is due to inflammation/ irritation- that's why there is some swelling and burning sensation. I suggest you to apply a bit of cortisone cream here as well. Sebamed lip balm can be continued for maintenance of improvement after you have stopped using cortisone.

2) also I have attached some latest pic please tell me whether you find any improvemt in the swelling or redness or irritation or is it still the same
3) at times out of no where there is suddenly urge to itch anywhere outside the lips ( mainly in the moustache area) it goes off after sometime at that moment before I could even touch my skin the skin is already red like as though I have scratched it like anything but the redness also goes after sometime) why so ??? Brief Answer:
Regarding your concern related to lips

Detailed Answer:
hi.

Use just plain hydrocortisone 1% cream.
In the images the affected area looks quite ok.
Your skin is sensitive that's why it turn red and itchy. I suggest you to use a soothing lotion e.g calamine lotion, frequently, throughout the day.
There is really no risk of acquiring herpes through spoons, forks, glass etc more so if they were washed prior to reusing.
