Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: I have had flu symptoms for several days and can't eat without feeling nauseous and bloated. I am scheduled for an endoscopy in two days. Is it OK to continue and will my symptoms affect the results? I also have Barrett's esophagus.

Brief Answer:
It is OK to continue medicines... will not affect result.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and regards!

Thanks for your query, read the history and understood the problems and query.

To answer the direct query:
The symptoms will not affect the Endoscopy (I hope it is upper GI Endoscopy, you are talking about)
Bactrim was once a great antibiotic and not much in use now-a-days.

You have flu like symptoms for several days:
What are you symptoms other than - can't eat without feeling nauseous and bloated?

I would advise you the following:
Go for endoscopy.
Take symptomatic treatment for nausea and bloating- Domperidone and activated charcoal tablets, probiotic.
Please get relevant blood, urine and stool tests, if there is an evidence of infection continues Bactrim or change over to other antibiotic as per the choice of your treating Doctor.
