default
Posted on Mon, 19 Oct 2015
Question: I have DMII, RA and well controlled HTN. Lately I've been having a flare with my RA and am Xeljanz for it. The flares come and go. My problem is having a feeling of extreme tiredness, to the point I've fallen asleep during work. There is no way I can stay awake. Normally lasts approx. 30 minutes. My arms and legs feel very heavy and my head feels too heavy for my shoulders. Please give me some idea on where to go with these sxs. I am 58 yo, female.

Brief Answer:
you should report these symptoms with doctor who prescribed xeljanz

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I am Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.Thanks for using HCM.
Your symptoms of extreme weakness and drowsiness need evaluation.I suggest following possibilities
1.There is a condition called Obstructive sleep apnoea. If you are over weight and have tendency to snore this possibility should be considered .you should get sleep test done to rule out this condition .
2.Extreme weakness has been reported side effect of xeljanz.so please discuss with your treating doctor .
3.your DM type 2 needs proper control .what is your current blood sugar and latest HBA1C ?
I would be glad to guide you further once I get your feedback
My best wishes
Dr.Rajesh Teli,MD.
