Suggest Treatment For Fibromyalgia And Osteoarthritis

Question: Hello,
I have a very severe case of Fibromyalgia, along with osteoarthritis, TMJ, and chronic migraines. I have been on OxyContin ER for several years. I just switched insurance companies, and my new carrier will only cover the generic form of it which I believe is Oxycodone HCL? But is Oxycodone HCL extended release? Or, does it need to be Oxycodone HCL ER (or controlled release)? Not sure what the official name of it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

I am afraid that if it says only Oxycodone HCL it is not and extended release formulation. The HCL part means simply hydrochloride, refers to hydrochloride salt used in many drugs to help them dissolve in water.
So it doesn't have to do with the extended release property, as you say should have some addition in the name like extended or controlled release. It should achieve the same efficacy but its level in the blood is less constant in time.
