Question: My baby is just shy of 1 yr old. She has a terrible rash on her diaper area, fever (101) and diarrhea?

Can understand your concerns.

Fever and diarrhea suggest that your child is probably suffering from acute gastroentritis or stomach infection.

The main thing that we have to take care in diarrhea is dehydration, so you should give more liquids to child and also start ORS solution.

You should also give a prebiotic like enterogermina ampule once a day for 3 days.

For fever, paracetamol syrup (5ml =125mg) should be given at dosage of 15 mg per kg.

If there is no response in 24 hours then an antibiotic like cefixime needs to be given.

For diaper rash, apply Zinc oxide cream like rashfree or ezinapi three times a day for 3 days.

An examination by a doctor is a must so that we may not miss any important finding.
