Suggest Treatment For Fever And Sprained Ankles

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Mar 2015
Question: My wife, sprained both ankles on Tuesday. In the ER vist they put one in an air cast . She has been improving with rest. This morning she has a fever of 101.5. She also suffers from bronchectisis and COPD. Just last week she was in the hospital receiving treatment with IV medrol and antibiotics. Is it possible that the Sprain is causing the fever or is this more likely a related to her respiratory issues?

Brief Answer:
Not due to sprained ankles.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The fever is not likely to be due to a sprain. The COPD is associated with infection in the airways. It causes fever. Since she is already taking the antibiotics the fever is likely to subside in next 1-2 days. Do continue taking ibuprofen. It will help in reducing the fever and pain.
I hope this answers your query.
