Question: HAD A VIRUS IN MID-DECEMBER. RAN SUBNORMAL TEMPS FOR 3 WEEKS AND THEN TEMP XXXXXXX TO 102.8. TO AN ANTIBIOTIC, BUT I STILL HAVE A COUGH WITH MUCUS--COUGH IS WORSE WHEN TALKING. ALSOI AM DIABETIC AND SEE MY PC DOCTOR EVERY 3 MONTHS.

In my opinion we should rule out lung infection first. Because of the following reasons.
1. You are diabetic, so chances of infection are high in your case.
2. Fever of 102.8 is not seen in viral infection. It is common with bacterial infection.
3. Cough with mucous is indicator of lung infection (pneumonia).
So we need to rule out lung infection in your case.
So get done chest x ray to rule out pneumonia.
