Suggest Treatment For Fatigue, Night Sweats And Difficulty To Speak In An Elderly Person
Question: I am 71 years old in very good health eat very well, excellent diet, energetic and physically very active every day I do swimming, gym, exercise classes, walking etc.
In the last five days I have a bad coughing spells not very energetic lethargic, can hardly talk, no voice, night sweats, I am drenched in the mornings. I went to the ER 6 days ago and gave me low dose stereods and said was viral. I took all the prescribed dosages but was no improvement 3 days ago I went to Urgent Care, since my doctor cannot see me till January 12. The Urgent Care doctor diagnosed as bronchitis and gave me antibiotic I am taking the antibiotic for 3 days and there is no improvement.

Well it seems like throat infection, and this throat infection is due to some bacteria.
For a bacterial infection a proper antibiotic is required. You are already on antibiotic but finding no relief , it means that the choice of antibiotic is not proper and you need to be started on a different antibiotic.
Before advising alternate antibiotic I would like to know what antibiotic you are presently taking.

the stereod i just finished is called methylprednisolone I took all the pills
The antibiotic is called cefdinir 300 mg, twice a day I am taking it for three days and no improvement.

Well , in my opinion you need to be put on an different antibiotic . I would recommend either Levofloxacin or Azithromycin ( Unless you are allergic to it ) .
So kindly consult your doctor and get a prescription for the above antibiotic and use it .
In addition do salt water gargling 3-4 times per day , drink hot water , avoid cold drinks , avoid oily food and non veg food , avoid Citrus fruits.
