default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2016
Question: I have what I think is indigestion, I ate tums and that's a little better, I am extremely fatigued, very sleepy and I've been asleep already for a long time. I have a bad taste in my mouth and I've brushed my teeth twice but still get it. I have a bad headache that keeps coming back and no period for two months. I took a pregnancy test and its negative.

Brief Answer:
Ovarian cysts

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.

I've gone through your query and find the following problems in order of relevance
- no period for two months
- non specific group of symptoms (headache, bad taste in mouth, indigestion, fatigue)

*do you have any loose stools? Urinary discomfort? Excess gas/bloating?
*do you have any children? Have you been pregnant before? Any surgeries?
*any other medical conditions? Medications?
*have your periods been regular so far?
* any recent illness- cold or stomach flu?

Based on your symptoms, I would like to rule out ovarian cysts and reproductive hormone imbalance.
All your symptoms could fit in with this.

I recommend
: a consult with an OBGYN/physician
: ultrasound abdomen & pelvis to rule out cysts
: blood tests to check for anemia, Thyroid problems, reproductive hormones (complete blood count, TSH, free T3, free T4, progesterone, estradiol), renal function tests

Ovarian cysts usually resolve on their own in 2-3 months without treatment. Certain other cysts may need further evaluation (biopsy or MRI).

Gastric symptoms could also be due to gastritis.

I suggest :
- bland, small but frequent meals
- avoid caffeine, sugary & carbonated drinks
- avoid fatty meals and bitter /sour food
-cool milk is a natural antacid. Have half a cup three times a day (Including just before bed)
-do not lie down until 2 hours after meals.

If these measures don't help in 2 days, medications may be necessary to help you.

Hope this helps,.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health

Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
