Posted on Fri, 6 Jun 2014
Question: Hi Dr,

I've a question on fallopian tube blockage.
For my wife we consult few Dr they are telling blockage can be removed only if the tube are in normal condition.
The scan reports say the size of the tubes size are
Right side : 7.3 * 2.3cm
Left side 10.1 * 7.1cm
which is abnormal and we have to go for test tube only.
Is there any way that we can do laparoscopy to remove the block and go for normal pregnancy?
There are lot of terms like IVF, IUI etc.. what those mean? and for my problem what is the treatment that we should go for?
Now in XXXXXXX who is the best specialist with good success rate and what would be the cost involved for these kind of treatment?

Thanks
XXXXXX

Brief Answer:
IVF

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply

1. Fallopian tube blockage is difficult to be removed.

2. If the small adhesions are there or it is due to spasm in fallopian tubes it can be corrected.

3. I would prefer to have a look at your HSG report if possible. I am available in XXXXXXX IVI fertility hospital located at mekhri circle in XXXXXXX

4. We do have IVF facilities in our hospital with world class success rates.

5. You can come and meet once with report at the above mentioned hospital this Saturday at 2 PM.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

No Dr its not possible to come and visit. we stay in electornic city.
I just want to kw the basic of the treatment and i feel I've not got answers for my understanding. It would be better if we know in general what kind of treatment is good and what are those terms IVF, IVU, Crinone gel etc are meant for.

If some one is having fallopian tube problem, what the the basic treatments to go ahead for normal pregnancy. I worst case what would be the next step.
Also the cost wise I want to kw much info.

Hi

Following is the stepwise reply to your question.

1. Fallopian tube if blocked needs to be evaluated through laparoscopy. In this surgery small scopes are introduced under anesthesia and a XXXXXXX is instilled through uterus to check if XXXXXXX passes through fallopian tubes and comes into abdomen.

2. If no XXXXXXX is seen in abdomen then blockage of fallopian tubes is confirmed and a small hysteroscopic procedure is tried to open fallopian tubes.

3. If not successful then IVF is the only treatment. In this treatment the injections are given about 10 days and eggs are incresed in size and number. Then eggs are taken out via transvaginal route under anesthesia and later mixed with your sperms in lab. Embryos are formed after 3 days which are put in to your wife's womb.

4. If laparoscopy is successful and tubes are opened you can try for IUI procedure in which your sperms are cleaned and put into your wife's womb when ovulation is about to happen.

5. Crinone gel is a progesterone suppliment used after IUI or IVF. 7

6. Therefore some body with blocked fallopian tubes if opened can try for 6 months naturally. Next step is IUI. Next to that is ivf.

I hope your doubt is cleared now.
