Question: I have started seeing small grey/dark insect type material on my right eye moving in front of my eyes when i go out in the sun. Some one told me it is eye floater. I am 52 years old. These days i am having severe anxity and high BP. My questions are :

1) will it appear or settle down ?
2) will it increase . Currently i see only one?
3) Though i am not seeing them indoor, are these are visible in indoor too?
4) How to get rid off them ?

Brief Answer:
Floaters

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
These are floaters. These are inconsequential and do not cause any damage. As a rule they are visible more in light background, like looking towards sky. These are opacities in the gel in the back of eye called vitreous humour. They are degenerative phenomenon and tend to increase with age.
They tend to stabilize and do not cause any harm. There is usually no treatment offered..In case these spots are bothersome, vitamin C 500 mg is given once a day for 6 weeks

thanks for your valuable input. i can see dark material moving very fast from left to right or some time right to left in my eyes. They move very fast. They are not fixed. Are they floater or something else ? Will they disappear as i have become very conscious and all the time i keep watching them and fear .As you said this will increase in number with increase in age, how much they will increase. Will they obstruct my vision with age ?I am really worried. All the time i am living in fear that i will see these.

My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
These floaters ,if you observe minutely, follow your eye movement with a time lag of a fraction of a second. They do not movie fast, they just follow your vision.
Ignore them. This is what we advise our patients.Do not follow them.Othetwise they keep you busy.Follow a healthy lifestyle and they will slowly disappear. They are of no significance, they just bother you.It takes months for them to gradually fade away.
