a year back consulting a local doctor and got blood test done (to know certain count to check this). forgotton the test, but as per the test report & doctor the count was quite high & am having erectile dysfunction due to weakness caused by diabetes.
please advice:
- what to do?
-is it due to diabetes?
-is it due to side effect of any of the medicine I am taking?
- can it be rectified by medication?
-if yes, please advice treatment (medicines etc)

Brief Answer:
Medicines are there to treat erectile dysfunction

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

I have read your problems as well prescription.

You have diabetes as well as hypertension.Treatment for both are going on.

Among all medicines I can not identify no.3 and no.10 drugs. Please clarify names of those medicines.

None of the medicines is significantly related to erectile dysfunction. Amlodipine can cause this side effect but very less in comparison to other anti hypertensive drugs.

Hypertension and diabetes are responsible for erectile dysfunction directly.

As well as smoking and alcohol intake are important causative factors.

In my opinion no need to use vacurect as it is not scientifically established approach.

Treatment of erectile dysfunction is there.

5- PDE inhibitor group of medicines like sildenafil or tadalafil are used. One of them should be used 2 hours prior to sex. I prefer tadalafil in patient with hypertension and diabetes. These are prescription medicines and you need to consult doctor/psychiatrist/sexologist for the prescription.Baseline Cadillac investigation should be done prior. Please go to doctor with all your past reports and investigations.

Another medicine cum vitamin supplement containing pyridoxal-5-phosphate, mecobalamin and l-methylfolate (trade name tetrafol plus)is very helpful in my patients. It has shown improvement in 50-60% patients of mine with ED having hypertension and diabetes. You should take it after meal twice a day. If you feel some improvement in 20 days you should continue for at least 2 months. You may get this medicine over the counter as it is vitamin product.

Another approach is ayurvedic treatment. Tentax forte and confido are used in erectile dysfunction. But with diabetes and hypertension how they should be take must be advised by ayurvedic doctor. You can go for these medicines after consulting ayurvedic doctor. No specific studies are there showing its effectiveness but yes it helps in some patients.

Other important points are:

You need to stop smoking and alcohol. They are bad for ED as well as overall health. Psychiatrist can help you ion both ED as well as in deaddiction.

Start doing exercises.Even walking half an hour a day will be a god thing.

With above measures and medicines you must control your diabetes and blood pressure.

Hope I have answered your all queries, feel free to ask further if need.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
