Brief Answer:
GERD should be treated to see for improvement

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Laryngospasm is related to GERD ( Gastroesophageal Reflux disease ) as the acid reflux can irritate upper airways , including the larynx. Cold water , cough can also trigger the spasm. It lasts only for a few seconds or a minute. It usually passes off and doesn't normally lead to severe damage though faintaing can occur due to hypoxia. Try to remain calm and avoid forceful gasping for breath as it can be counterproductive. GERD should be empirically treated with PPIs like esomeprazole to see for improvement. An ENT consultation would also be recommended to do laryngoscopy and visualize any damage related to GERD and treat it accordingly.
