Posted on Thu, 30 Jul 2015
Question: I have recently had a colonoscopy and a biopsy was done. The results were negative for cancer.I was treated with antibiotics for an infection.I also had a ct scan which indicated the possibility of a tumour.
I am to undergo another colonoscopy to determine if indeed I have an infection or something more concerning.I am a little confused and of course worried since the first biopsy results were negative. Please comment

Brief Answer:
Please tell symptoms and CT and other reports.

Detailed Answer:
HI.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.

To recapitulate: Female/64 recent colonoscopy and biopsy negative for cancer - antibiotics for infection - ** CT indicated tumor - review colonoscopy - worried as the first colonoscopy and biopsy was negative -

I would like to know the detailed CT scan report and the symptoms you have/had, please post as YYYY@YYYY
This will help me to comment better.

The possibilities are:
There may be lymph node enlargement due to infection that mimic cancer.
Occasional tumors which are outside the wall of the colon can be missed on colonoscopy but picked up on CT scan.

It is always best to make sure that there is nothing serious.

with regards.
