Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Lymph Node Behind The Ear

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Apr 2015
Question: I recently noticed today an enlarged lymph node behind my right ear. Should I be concerned.
I had a physical in December 2014 and all blood work was normal including cholesteral and PSA. I have a shotty node on the same right side in my neck in the anterior cervical chain that I have had now for almost 5 years. It was negative with a CT scan done five years ago. It has not changed in size in the last five years.
I am just concerned about this new node behind my right ear lobe that I just noticed today. What should I do

Brief Answer:
Seems to be scalp or ear infection.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having lymph node enlargement. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any scalp infection ( seborrhea or psoriasis or lice infestation) ?
Is your lymph node enlargement associated with itching or pain in the ear ?

kindly get back to me with the details.

lymphnode enlargement behind the ear commonly occurs from scalp and ear infections.

I suggest you to to consult ent surgeon and get detailed Ent examination, otoscopy (ear), laryngoscopy (deeper parts of neck), fine needle aspiration cytology of node. depending on the examination reports further treatment is required accordingly.

Painless lymphnodes from longer duration, should be evaluated. in my opinion, amoxicillin can be started after evaluation.
