Posted on Fri, 4 Aug 2017
Question: Hello, I have nuroendocrenal gastric tumors, NET, being operated endoscopically on Wednesday. They are less than 7mm. Now I have just seen my gastrine levels 1320. What does this imply for my disease, and how can I lower them. Can they be lowered by not being stressed? Do some foods help. I have 260 cholesterol, and have beenbblood tested showing I'm wheat, dairy and egg intollerant. I also take vit 12 sublingual to boost my deficiency
. Understandably what to eat is becoming an issue. What life style and diet and medicinal treatments do you recommend ?

Brief Answer:
Gastrin will return to normal in few weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for query,
Gastrin is hormone produced by the antral cells in the stomach mucosa.Gastric tumour usually induces atrophy of the oxyntic mucosa(secrete gastrin).Atrophic oxyntic gastritis leads to reduced acid secretion, gastric hypoacidity, and secondary hypergastrinemia. In your case its elevated as your stomach isn't making acid due to tumour.
As your body would recover the levels would return back to normal in few months(Its secondary hypergastrinemia) so as the cause is now removed it will come back to normal.

Stress as such has no direct role in your case.

Life style-
Post recovery walk 20 minutes daily.
Try light workout,aerobics and yoga.
Diet options are-
Amaranth,Arrowroot.Buckwheat.Corn and cornmeal.Flax.Gluten-free flours (rice, soy, corn, potato, bean)Hominy (corn)Millet.Plain rice in all forms (white, brown, wild, enriched rice, etc.)Beans, seeds and nuts in their natural, unprocessed form,Fresh meats, fish and poultry (not breaded, batter-coated or marinated),all fruits
All the above mentioned things can be taken by you.
Medical treatment-As such just follow post operative treatment. After that just follow a regular healthy lifestyle.Just avoid things you are allergic to apart from that follow regular life style(normal human).
For cholesterol tart taking Rosuvastatin 5mg once daily for 3 months.
Thanks
