Posted on Mon, 19 May 2014
Question: I Went for my LFT, KFT and Lipid Screen Test Yesterday i.e. 27th April 2014, I was shocked to see the report where my Creatinine, Uric Acid content were high [please see attached Test Report-1.jpg file for the reference] secondly the level of Cholesterol, Triglyceride and LDL Cholesterol is quite high than the normal limits [please see attached Test Report-2.jpg file for the reference].
I'm not sure why this contents are so high, I don't eat any fatty food at all, I am a vegetarian, I do not smoke and I drink occasionally, please help me with what further steps should I take to curb all these problems.

You are suffering from dyslipidemia & liver injury

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX bbm
Thanks for writing to HCM

You are suffering from dyslipidemia with liver injury. This is a common disease among adults due to changing life style.
SGPT and GGT are increased. It may be due to deposition of fat within the liver cells.
SGOT is nonspecific and it may be increased in other diseases also.
Serum creatinine is towards upper range and uric acid is also raised.

You also need few more investigations like routine hemogram,RBS(Random blood sugar),Ultrasound of abdomen.Further investigations can be done if needed.

You also need life style modification and diet changes.
You should reduce your weight also if you are overweight.
You should avoid high fat milk products.
Cook food in olive or canola oil.
You should take limited salt in your diet.It is good that you avoid fried and junk food. You should completely avoid alcohol intake.
Take lot of fruits and vegetables. You should also increase your physical activity in the form of walking and exercise.
You can also do meditation and yoga.It will help you a lot.
Don't take stress in life.

You can take hypolipidemic drugs like combination of tablet Atorvastatin 10 mg and Fenofibrate 160 mg at night after dinner.

You should also avoid purine rich diet.If uric acid is persistently raised then you should take medicines.

Hello XXXXXXX bbm
Thanks for writing back

You have mild fatty liver according to USG report. This is expected finding due to dyslipidemia.Fatty liver is due to deposition of fat within the liver cells.
It is reversible condition and can be reversed by controlling of lipid profile, modification of diet and life style.

Hemoglobin level is also towards lower side.It can be corrected by iron and folic acid supplementation. You should also take vitamin B complex tablets once daily.
You should also take iron rich foods like dates, jaggery, green leafy vegetables etc.
Rest of the findings are within normal limit.

Get well soon.
