Suggest Treatment For Dry Mouth With Metallic Taste On Tongue
Question: I have had an intestinal problem for two weeks and been on Zithromax, flagyl and Zofran. It is getting better but today I have a very bitter taste in my mouth but when I looked tongue is red with coating grey or beige. It is thick and I can scrape off with toothbrush. It is so bitter it makes me feel awful. Is it the medicine or the condition in the intestine?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Dry mouth with metallic taste is due to recent gastrointestinal discomfort plus the use of flagyl which is notorious for metallic taste.
For temporary relief of dry mouth, use sugarless candy or gum, melt bits of ice in your mouth, or use a saliva substitute. If your mouth continues to feel dry for more than 2 weeks, check with your medical doctor or dentist. Continuing dryness of the mouth may increase the chance of dental disease, including tooth decay, gum disease, and fungus infections.
