Question: Hi . I need some advce. I within a period of two days , found out my mums cancer has come back and is onlymanagable and not curable and 2 days later my granddad dies very unexpectedly , then it was Christmas and as we all have small children we continued with the festivities as normal. Then a few days later we were arranging funerals , mums started her chemo and I stupidly went and had a drink with my friends whom thought this was a good idea, ( I don't normally drink that much) , I ended up drinking two bottles of red wine and returning home ended up fighting with my husband, in turn my father got in the middle and my husband and father eneded up fighting and husband got arrested. I can assure you this was horrendous , we are such a lovely little family and all this so out of wack its stuill hard to believe.

The only thing is I fell and hit my head very bluntly (by my temple) and am still suffering the symtoms. dizzyiness headache and now on the top heart palps.

What my question is I feel I cant cope, iv gone from a bubbly girl to a wreck , I feel I cant cope with anymore , im agitated cry at the drop of a hat and afraid something else bad is going to happen.

Iv always suffered with anxiety and ocd but have always managed to live a normal healthy lifestyle. I am now consumed with dread fear and feel iv damaged my brain in the fall and ocd is in overdrive.

Iv been to gp who has referred me to a therapist to help me be strong as I only want to help my mum through this horrid cancer. do you think im having a break down ,I feel im in a bad dream its awful. Im sleeping more as I feel so blinking dizzy and my head and eyes feel all full. please help x

Brief Answer:
Head Injury has to be ruled out preliminarily through NCCT .

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.

I understand your query and concern.

I really feel sorry for your current state of affairs.

Yes certainly you seem to be in broken down state, reactions of mixed OCD and Phobia related to underlying stress and anxiety within you secondary to the head injury as well as the family affairs.

Its also pretty important to rule out serious internal head injury since many of your symptoms like dizziness, headache, warrant further investigations.

Hence I strongly recommend Non Contrast CT scan(NCCT) for your further evaluation.

Drugs for OCD and anxiety can be started once serious internal brain injury is ruled out comfortably.

I appeal to you to stay calm and focused meanwhile.

Post your further queries,if any.

Thank you.

thank you for your answer, since this I have been hugely better. I have managed to get things straight in my mind and back on track. I do still have a small lump on my temple which seems to be tender but all other symtoms have slightly subsided. I am however getting tension type headaches that start at the eyes and nose and extend to head and neck. I feel that my eyes are full if that is any sort of explantion and my gp said my bp the last few days have been high , 140/100 which is high I understand.

Brief Answer:
No major concern, better to go for NCCT.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

I understand your concern.

Its good to know that you are improving.

But still you need extra concern since you seem to still have persistent trans-cranial headache across the eyes.

This still needs a NCCT scan to rule out any delayed internal bleeds if any(a remote possibility).

The lump on the temple will slowly reabsorb with time as it a soft tissue contusion.

The BP needs further reduction to under 130/80 mm of Hg.

I hope you will be all fine in a coupe of days time.

De stress and keep yourself calm.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.

thank you for your reply , iv been to the hospital 5 days after the injury and the doctor said there was no need for a scan as my vias were ok , I thenreturned to my own gp a few days ago who said that again my eyes seemed ok ad there was no signs off bleeding in the brain and that the pressure headaches seemed to be cause from stress.
The only way I can describe the feeling is someone squeezing my head, even when I lay down it feels like im putting more pressure on my head very strange feeling.
so even after two evluations off doctors do you think I should insist on a scan , kind reguards

Brief Answer:
I go with your Doctors opinion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.

I understand your query and concern.

In case if you have been reviewed by 2 doctors pertaining to the need of CT brain,

I do not further find any new reason to ask for NCCT.

The persistent squeezing type headache can be relieved through anxiolytics like clonazepam 2 hours before bedtime. This could be possible tension type of pressure headache.

Thank you.
