Suggest Treatment For Dizziness, Fatigue And Lack Of Concentration

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Jun 2017
Question: Hi Dr. Rynne,
I have been feeling dizzy, unable to concentrate, disoriented, fatigued and sleepy. I have been experiencing changes in my vision as well. I have not been sick recently, nor do I have any pain in my ear. This has been going on for about a week on and off, but has been especially bad today. I am 38 years old and in good health. I am highly active and have a low BMI. I have been considering going into the ER this evening because I feel so anxious. Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
It can be Meniere's disease or simply stress.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through your question.

From the desription of your symptoms,in my opinion ,the causes can be neurologic or otorynolaringologic.

You are young, healthy, active and normal weight this means that very probably the cause is not neurologic and very probably an ENT specialist can help you to find te cause. So,good decision to consult an ENT specialist near you.

If you were my patient,i will ask you
1. if you take any medication because your symtoms can be side effects of these drugs and
2.do you have:balance problems,a sensation of ringing in one or both ears and vertigo?(I suspect in a middle ear infection, labirintitis or Meniere 's disease.)
3.Even severe persistent stress can cause your symptoms.

It is necessary to do some test like :hearing test, balance test and a head MRI for the right diagnosis.

My advices for you are:
limit or exclude from your diet include:
-excessive salt
-caffeine
-alcohol
-And stop smoking(if you smoke)

It’s also important to drink six to eight glasses of water per day, so your body isn’t retaining fluid. Other lifestyle remedies include:
-eating regularly (to help regulate fluids in your body)
-try to manage anxiety and stress.

Hope this is helpful.
If you have other question, feel free and ask.I will be happy to help.
Take care.
