Question: I need help. Ihave trouble with staying focused doing tasks during the day and sleep off and on all night. Can u help me. Thanks alot for ur reply

Difficulty in focusing while doing tasks is one of the common symptoms that can be encountered in multiple conditions. Although the list of such conditions is exhaustive, in my clinical practice I have observed that ongoing stress is most common cause for these problems.

As I can see there is past history of ADHD and PTSD, which again common factors for inattention and difficulties in concentration.

Incidents of sleeping on and off with difficulty in concentration and attention points toward possibility of sleep apnea.


I will suggest you following things for having a better focus on activities.

1. Firstly stress management. I hope you know what I mean by stress management and need to follow them. In case you need to know I can provide some general rules of stress management.

2. Use of modafinil (provigil). This is available in strength of 100 mg and 200 mg and should be taken in early morning preferable before 10 AM. The medication helps in the attention and concentration without having any potential long term complications such as dependence or addiction.

3. In case you are obese it is prudent to reduce weight as far as possible.
