Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Breathing While Sleeping

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: My wife has been on prednizone for 2 weeks out the last month for spasms In her throat which cause extreme difficulty breathing . Three trips to the doctor and one to ER have left us clueless as her condition has worsened and has us concerned . She is currently on a Prevacid type medicine for possible acid reflux but now flu like symptoms and weakened condition have me online looking for direction.
Her brother is a critical care pulmonary specialist in NC and would see her with a trip to XXXXXXX .
Her primary physician indicates reflex is primary causing her throat to close up while sleeping .
Any thoughts please?
Many thanks
She is 5 2" 115 lbs no meds and extremely healthy otherwise

Brief Answer:
Get done PFT.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

In my opinion you should first consult pulmonologist and get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
As in my opinion there is strong possibility of bronchitis.

Bronchitis can cause bronchospasm, coughing and difficulty in breathing.

And for the diagnosis of bronchitis PFT is must. This will also tell you about severity of the disease.
She may need inhaled bronchodilators and oral antibiotic too.

So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.

Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your wife.
Thanks.
