Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea While On Noriday

Question: Hello, my daughter who is 18 has been on the XXXXXXX pill noriday for almost a year, but in the last month or so has been experiencing bouts of diarrhoea . Her gp seems unconcerned but has suggested a change of pill. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated! Thank you

XXXXXXX pill does not cause diarrhea as a side effect. It would be extremely rare for this medicine to give such side effect.
From the other hand, the effectiveness of this pill may be reduced in case of diarrhea. So she may not be 100% secured when diarrhea is present.

Most common reason of diarrhea is gastrointestinal infection (bacterial or viral). In such case blood in stool can be present along with fever.
Partial bowels obstruction due to inflammatory bowels disease can be also the case. This condition gives bloating, cramps, weight loos, blood and mucus in stool.

Any diarrhea which lasts longer than 48 hours should be checked with stool test and stool culture test. If no infection will be found, colonoscopy is necessary.

In a meanwhile should should start probiotic intake.
