Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea In Pregnancy?

Question: Hi Dr. My Wife is 6 weeks pregnent (basis from LMP), for last 15 days she had diarriea problem with semi solid waste, going to loo 2 to 3 times. After pregnancey was confirmed last week, Dr increased the intake of Glycomete 85o from once to twice in a day. But since last 2 days, the semi solid has become liquid but she is going to loo only 2-3 times. So she started taking light and non spicy food. However now she feels like heavy stomach. Is there any natural way to treat this problem or we have to get her admitted to hospital. There is no weakness as such but she is having pain in her knees and calf.

Hello XXXX, thanks for trusting health care magic.
After reading medical and family history I would suggest you to stop glycomet as a whole and see if diarrhea is relieved.
It is very common to have diarrhea after taking glycomet but it subsides eventually in 7-8 days.
But as your wife doesn't seem to need it as she has conceived already and there is no deranged blood sugar either so we can stop the drug to relieve her from diarrhea.
After stopping it ask her to have ample curd or yakult (easily available in supermarkets) which will give her gut good bacteria.
Keep taking a lot of water and rest till she feels better.
I hope she will be relieved and there will be no need for hospitalization.
