Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Blood In Stool

Question: Howdy. I'm a 53 year old women, smoker with history of alcohol abuse. Sober 8 months. All that in consideration I am generally very fit and healthy. Starting with recent history: I had post menopausal bleeding two weeks ago, had a pap that came back negative and a vaginal ultra sound and a uterine biopsy. All came back pretty good but apparently I have polyps that need to be removed. Biopsy was Tues. I started having diarrhea Wednesday and it has been bad since then, going on three days now. Last night I thought I was feeling better and ate 4 chicken wings. Mild. This morning I have noticed what I will term "substantial" blood in my diarrhea.
Should I be concerned and head to see a Dr today?

Yes, you definitely should consult your doctor and it should be today if thats possible.
Diarrhea which lasts longer than 48 hours should be checked with stool test. Also blood in stool (mixed with it) is a concerning symptoms.
Usually diarrhea is caused by infection. If there is a blood in it, we can say its bacterial infection. That is why you seem to need antibiotic treatment.
And no matter if its infection or not, colonoscopy should be scheduled to rule out the worst possibility (colon cancer).
