Suggest Treatment For Diaper Rashes

Question: hi dr. my almost 6 month old baby has got bad diaper rashes mainly around the anal area.It is cold here so I cant keep him naked. I am just making him wear pajami. Also I am applying cream Candid B(clotrimazole + becomethasone) over the affected area. Can u tell me if there is some more effective cram so that he can get healed sooner.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. You need to understand what is going on. The main offending agent is excessive moisture (inside the diaper). So it is very important to keep the area clean and dry. That is the mainstay of treatment. Applying some moisturizer and emollient like aloe vera lotion or Siloderm Mixi Ointment should help. Do not use Candid B for more than a week. It contains a steroid which increases the propensity of the problem coming back continuously.
