Brief Answer:
About diabetic neuropathy:

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.

Diabetic neuropathy very rarely affects the nerves of upper extremities and is almost always bilateral, so for the numbness of the fingers of the right hand another cause should be found and treated accordingly.

Peripheral diabetes neuropathy (if confirmed) treatment is not very efficient and consists mainly in nerve nutrients. You do not report pain, so analgesics or pregabalin and gabapentin would not be suggested.

Except of Acetyl carnitine and CoQ10 , alfa lipoic-acid is proved to relieve the numbness, so you may discuss with your treating physician about using it.
Of course trying to keep the blood sugar under control is the only way to prevent further damages.

Hope i have been helpful.
Kind regards,

I have been told I have neuropathy in my feet from the RA which is quite painful at times. I take Plaquenil for the RA and Gabapentin for the neuropathy. However, my greatest problem is my left knee. I developed a cyst behind it and it has been drained once so far. I am finding more and more that the pain and swelling in the knee is getting worse. If I sit for more than a half hour at a time, the knee starts to lock. I wear a brace when it is very painful and stiff. Is there anything else I can do?

What do you think of marinol for nerve pain? I m trying increasing my dose of gabapentin and haven t noticed a difference. I m up to 300 mg 3x/day. Also a fentanyl patch 50 mcg per hour every three days. My history is somewhat complex. In 2008 I ended up with a yeast infection on my spinal cord, cauda equina syndrome, among other things. My spinal cord was debrided twice during a four month hospital stay, I nearly died twice. Seven months later I underwent spinal fusion, T8-S1, with instrumentation. Hence the pain. I also take tizanidine and baclofen to prevent spasms. I already had some nerve pain but it is much worse. I had just never heard of this drug in my vast medical experience since 2008, but I did smoke pot in college (1973-77) I can t walk and am in a wheelchair, but not a motorized one. Have you seen the OLD people in those commercials? Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Luanne Thomas
