Question: I have been back on 45 mg mirtazapine for 5 weeks after stopping taking them for a month thinking I was ok. They have not.made any difference so far and still severely depressed and anxious.. I have propananol for the anxiety and also now been prescribed diazepam which took last night and felt.great but.this morning. feel horrendous. Really really depressed, tingly arms and legs, spaced out. Will a propananol help with this as don't wanna take diazapam again.

Wait for some more time to see effects of Mirtazapine

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can understand your concern. Mirtazapine is a drug that help to improve serotonergic neurotransmission in brain and thus help in depression. The drug takes about 4-6 weeks time to show its full effects. You stopped the drug and then stared again so this will take a little more time to show its effects.

If Diazepam caused relief but resulted in horrible effects in morning then in such case I'd advise you to reduce the dose of Diazepam to half. This will help to control the restlessness and you will feel better. You can take even the drug on SOS basis.

Propranolol can help to control anxiety but avoid using this drug in evening hours. You can continue to take propranolol in morning hours without any worry. If even with propranolol symptoms persist then you can take half of (5 mg) Diazepam dose on SOS basis. This would control anxiety and will not cause much sedation. Half doses in evening will not result in side effects in next morning. In coming weeks Mirtazapine would help to control symptoms.

Take the drugs as per your prescribed doses only.

Thanks, Hope this helps you, if you have more doubts you can ask again.

Take care

Thank you so much. I am just frightened as seem to be feeling worse rather than better and assumed 5 weeks into the Mirtazapine again it would be at least providing some relief from crippling depression.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Don't be worried the drug will control your symptoms again. If your symptoms are worsening then you can ask your doctor to increase the doses of the drug.

Start taking Vitamin B12 supplements and Omega-3-Fatty Acid soft gels. Both these supplements with help to increase the effectiveness of the Mirtazapine. Both these drugs will also help to decrease the depressive symptoms.

Thanks, Still have more doubts to ask please ask a follow up question.

Take care
